The home of Joseph Fagan
See clearly.
Live fully.
I'm Joseph Fagan. Clarity of Vision is where everything I make lives — my talks, my podcast, my letters. Its flagship is Joy Ignition, the workbook I built to find my own way back from burnout: five simple principles to help you get unstuck and feel inspired again.
One invitation, repeated everywhere on this page: start with the free chapter. No course, no homework.
“As a kid, I created without fear. Wild imagination. Zero self-consciousness. Years in the creative industry taught me to grow a thicker skin — and the armor that protected me also dulled my spark. Joy Ignition is how I got it back.” — Joseph Fagan, from the workbook

Joy Ignition: five principles to help you get unstuck and feel inspired again
Feeling stuck, burned out, or a little lost? This is the workbook I built for exactly that season — invitations, not instructions. There is nothing to get right.
- Five simple principles — Create, Play, Learn, Explore, Give. A short, honest essay opens each chapter; the foundation under all of it is letting go of judgment, and the root of all of it is love.
- 22 gentle prompts — invitations, not assignments. Make something, play again, stay curious, wander somewhere new, give a little of yourself away.
- About ten minutes each — no course and no homework: most prompts take about ten minutes, whenever you can give them ten minutes.
- Room to actually write — full-color chapter art, a closing reflection and a classic quote in every chapter, and space to write right on the pages.
- A thoughtful gift — for anyone starting over: a friend running on empty, a sister in a life change, a coworker heading into retirement. Or keep it for yourself.
The five principles
Tap one. Each chapter is an essay, a set of prompts, and a closing reflection — and you can start with whichever one pulls at you.
Create — the need to make
Where the spark usually hides: in the ordinary. My own turning point was realizing I had been creative all along — improvising a fix around the apartment, solving a problem on the fly — I just didn't recognize it anymore. This is the chapter you can read in full, free.
The invitation: make one small thing today, with no thought at all about how it will be judged.
Start with Create — the whole first chapter, free.
The full Create chapter from Joy Ignition: the essay, the prompts, the reflection. If it sounds like your own story, the rest of the book is waiting. If it doesn't, you've lost nothing but ten good minutes.
Watch & listen
The same five principles, out loud
Before it was a book, Clarity of Vision was a voice: a talk and a podcast about self-discovery, made for seekers — exploration, not expertise.
Transform Your Life: 5 Forgotten Principles
Joseph walks through Create, Play, Learn, Explore, and Give — one segment per principle — and tells the thick-skin story behind the book. The fastest way to hear whether this is for you.
Clarity of Vision — the podcast
“We're on a shared quest — diving into new concepts and practices, exploring what brings peace, happiness, and moments of enlightenment. A welcoming sanctuary for new and returning seekers, where exploration, not expertise, is the guiding force.” The original home of the name, kept here where it belongs.

One principle per essay: the idea behind it, a prompt you can actually try, and a question to sit with. It opens with “Why I Created Joy Ignition” — my thick-skin years, the quiet COVID realization, and the kid I was trying to get back to.

I was the kid who created without fear
As a kid, I created without fear. Wild imagination. Zero self-consciousness. I ran around the neighborhood as Superman, Captain Kirk, Luke Skywalker, acting out adventures in the backyard. It just flowed out of me.
Years into my creative career — film, motion graphics, work I rose near the top of — the advice was always the same: grow a thicker skin. So I did. But the armor that protected me from harsh critique also cut me off from my own creativity, until, during the quiet of COVID, I realized I didn't enjoy creating anymore — not even for myself. Every attempt came with worry about how it would be judged.
So I went looking for that kid. I filled my life with the things that had always made me feel free and alive — making things, playing music, learning, traveling somewhere new, giving and being of service — and I noticed something: I had been creative all along. It was just muted, hidden. Those five threads became five principles, and the principles became Joy Ignition.
